Bugs have reflexes when it comes to being hurt. It is not known without a doubt if what they feel is actually pain.
Pain is a tough feeling to measure. Studies were done to determine if animals, such as crabs and insects, feel pain, but the findings are inconclusive. An insect may pull away from an object that is harming it. However, this may be a learned trait. If an insect suffers a serious injury, it does nothing to protect itself afterward. When a bug is being eaten by another bug, it still continues with its normal behavior. This could be a sign that bugs do not feel any pain.
