Many hypoallergenic dogs are small in form, but some, such as the giant schnauzer and the bouvier des Flanders, shed rarely and produce less dander compared to other dog breeds. They make ideal pets for dog lovers who want large but hypoallergenic dogs.

The giant schnauzer is the giant version of the standard schnauzer with an ideal height of 23 to 28 inches. It has a hard dense and rough outer coat and a soft undercoat. These dogs rarely shed and require regular grooming to prevent matting in the undercoat.

The bouvier des Flanders ideally stands between 24 to 28 inches. It has a tousled thick water-resistant double coat with a rough and hard outer coat and a fine dense soft undercoat. Its thick coat should be brushed several times a week to prevent shedding and to keep the tangles at a minimum.
