Full Answer

A bearded dragon's diet should include 20 percent plant matter and 80 percent animal matter. The plant matter can include greens, such as dandelion, romaine lettuce, kale and spinach. It can also include carrots, cucumbers and other vegetables. The animal matter can include crickets, mealworms, waxworms, fruit flies, earthworms and cockroaches. Juvenile bearded dragons should receive pinhead crickets instead of regular crickets, since larger crickets can injure the dragon. Adult bearded dragons enjoy pinky mice as an occasional snack.
