The main predator of a bobcat is the cougar, but humans pose a significant threat to bobcats too. The bobcat is a vicious hunter at the top of the food chain, leaving few animals that can take it down.
Young bobcats are at a higher risk from predators than adult bobcats. Baby bobcats are prey for foxes, owls, eagles and bears. Adult bobcats may also attack bobcat cubs.
The bobcat hunts rabbit, mice, gophers, fawns and birds. In situations where the bobcat hunts a larger animal, the prey may deliver self-defense blows that leave the bobcat injured but still capable of hunting.
