The albino kingsnake is an albino version of the California kingsnake, a common reptilian pet. Albino kingsnakes are popular and adaptable. However, unlawful dumping of these animals has turned them into an invasive species in the Canary Islands.
The California kingsnake is relatively easy to keep because it adapts well to captivity. It is nonvenomous and kills its prey by constriction. As hatchlings, California kingsnakes are between 8 and 12 inches in length. Adults can grow to more than 6 feet in length. A 20-gallon tank is enough to keep an adult kingsnake, but larger tanks are recommended. Cannibalism is a problem for pet owners who keep this snake with other snakes.
