Petfinder does not offer cats for adoption, but a person can use the search bar on Petfinder to find cats available for adoption from local organizations. To find a pet on Petfinder, go to the tab Find A Pet to Adopt and type in the necessary information.
Under the Find A Pet tab--located near the top of the website--a person should type in her city or ZIP code in the location box, choose Cat on the pull-down bar under Type and fill in any preferences, such as breed, gender and age. Additional search filters include distance for a person's location, size and if a person currently possesses any other animals. A person can also search for certain characteristics, including house trained, declawed and special needs.
Once all the information is entered, the potential adopter clicks Search and a list of cats available through local organizations pops up. Information includes the name of the cat, the fee to adopt, a short bio on the cat and the organization with which the cat resides. To adopt, sponsor or enquire about a cat, a person must directly contact the organization that has the cat or send a message to the organization through Petfinder. Contact information and the location of the organization is available on Petfinder.
