To make an icosahedron, create a template with 20 attached triangles, then fold the sides and glue the triangles on their edges to make the figure. An icosahedron is a geometric figure with 20 faces, 30 edges and 12 vertices.
Continue ReadingThe icosahedron figure is one of five platonic solids. In this figure, five triangles meet at each vertex. The other four platonic solids are:
To make a icosahedron, one needs only a few supplies. A sheet of paper, pencil, template, scissors and glue or tape.
Step 1: Trace the template
Place the template on a sheet of plain paper and trace around it. Be sure to mark the fold lines.
Step 2: Cut out and fold the figure
Use a pair of scissors to carefully cut out the figure from the sheet of paper. Fold along the indicated fold lines, along the edges of each triangle. If desired, color the triangles to make the shape more decorative.
Step 3: Glue or tape the edges
Use a small bead of glue or clear tape to secure the open edges of the figure.
