Three squared is nine. The square of a number is obtained by multiplying the number with itself. Thus, the square of three is written as 3^2 or 3 x 3 = 9.

The square of fractions can also be obtained in the same manner. The square of ¾ is written as (¾)^2 = ¾ x ¾ = 9/16. The square of (-¾) is written as (-¾)^2 = (-¾.) x (-¾) = 9/16.
