Players use tokens in the Reflex store to change the appearance of their avatars. The math program rewards players with tokens during play and limits the reward at 120 tokens earned per day to encourage shorter daily play sessions, which result in greater retention of the math fundamentals practiced.
Reflex begins by assessing a student's math fact knowledge and typing speed using a simple game format. It uses the information gathered to adjust for each individual player. The program recognizes patterns in mistakes and provides reinforcement lessons when needed. Students begin each session with either a new math fact or a review lesson and, initially, choose from two games. Up to seven more games unlock as math skills develop.
