Numeric constraints are conditions that occur in computer-aided drafting and engineering that are used to define a field in which a specific action occurs. They can refer to simple numeric values or algebraic formulas that occur within a given program.
For example, if a designer were working with two shapes that overlapped but wanted to give each of these shapes distinct properties, he would use numeric constraints. Constraints could be set to encompass each of the two shapes to keep them separate from each other in the design program. Conditions would then be set for each numeric constraint and applied to the corresponding shape.
