A tetrahedron is a three-dimensional object that has four faces, six edges, and four vertices, or points. It can be thought of as a pyramid with a triangular base. Regular tetrahedrons are made of four equilateral triangles.
Design your tetrahedron
Because tetrahedrons can be made in a number of ways, the first step is to design your product. One of the easiest ways to make a sturdy tetrahedron is to design a frame out of six segments of equal lengths. These segments can be made out of toothpicks, bobby pins or other small straight objects you can find around the house. If you connect three of the segments to form one equilateral triangle, you can use this triangle to trace the dimensions onto any paper, fabric or even wood you might want to cut out and build around your frame.
Prepare the materials for your tetrahedron
To create faces for your tetrahedron, cut out four equilateral triangles, or a single shape that can be subdivided or folded into four triangles. If you are using a frame, create one triangle and affix one of the remaining three segments to each of the three vertices of that triangle. These three new segments should converge to form another vertex.
Put it all together
Once you have glued the segments of your frame together, you can add the faces. If the faces are created by one sheet of paper, fabric or some other foldable material, place your frame on the material such that it lines up with one of the planned faces and fold the others around it. For all other methods, place the faces on the frame so that their sides meet at the edges. Glue the pieces together to create a tetrahedron.
