Percentage can be calculated on a basic calculator by multiplying with the percent button. If the percent button is not present, the percent amount can be converted to a decimal and that can be multiplied instead.
To calculate percentage using a basic calculator, enter the base number, multiplication button, percentage amount, percent button, and equals sign. For example to calculate 50 percent of 100, enter 100 into the calculator, and then press the multiplication button, the number 50, and the percent button. After the equal sign is pressed, the calculator should display an answer of 50. If the calculator does not have a percent button, convert the percentage to a decimal by moving the decimal point two digits to the left, and multiply it by the base. In the previous example, 100 would be multiplied by 0.50.
