As of February 2015, the Frigidaire recall is voluntary. Anyone using a recalled dryer should cease. It is against the law to resell or attempt to resell a recalled product. Owners are advised to immediately unplug the dryer and contact Frigidaire or Sears for a free repair kit.
The model and serial number are necessary for determining if a particular unit is on the recall list. The location of this information depends on the type of dryer. For top load washers, the model and serial number are located on the top right corner inside the lid. Front load washers are located at the top center of the door. Laundry center models feature this information on the outer edge of the door nearest the handle.
About 35,000 total units are included in this recall. The product names include Crosley, Frigidaire, Kelvinator, Kenmore, Wascomat and White-Westinghouse. All of these products are distributed by Frigidaire. These devices were sold from Sears and other nationwide retailers from February 2009 through May 2009.Learn more about Washers & Dryers
