An inexpensive homemade way to trap stinkbugs is to use a pan, soapy water and a desk lamp. Put the lamp over a pan of soapy water, and leave it on overnight. The stink bugs are attracted to the light and drown in the water, according to the Washington Post.
The soap provides a sticky substance that traps the bugs, who walk into the water and then drown. This trap, which was tested by a research team at Virginia Tech, provides a way to rid a home of stinkbugs without actively having to attack them, and it also avoids spreading the odor of killed stink bugs.
