Remove all of the furniture from the room, and lay down sections of plastic or canvas covering to protect the floor before beginning the process of removing the wallpaper paste.
Wash the wall using hot water and a small amount of dishwashing soap. Use a sponge to apply the solution and wipe off the paste. A plastic drywall knife or a wallpaper scraper can also be used. Rinse the wall using warm, water and towel it dry.
Mix 1 gallon of water and 1 cup of vinegar in a bucket. Use a sponge to apply the solution to the wall in the same manner as the dishwashing soap. Allow the vinegar and water mixture to sit for 10 to 15 minutes before scrapping the paste away with a drywall knife or wallpaper scraper. Repeat this cleaning process until all of the wallpaper paste has been removed.
