Waterford crystal comes from the company's factory in Waterford City, Ireland. The factory melts more than 750 metric tons of crystal each year to produce more than 45,000 finished objects, according to the company.
The factory is open for public tours that show how crystal is blown, cut, engraved and sculpted, and a large retail store is located nearby. Waterford produces stemware and other household items through its Marquis brand. The company also produces specially designed show pieces and sports trophies. One of the company's most dramatic pieces is the Millennium Ball, which was dropped at the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square in 2000.
