Pretreat any stains, and wash fleece in a home washing machine, using a mild powdered detergent and the gentle cycle. Do not wash with other materials. Tumble dry on the gentle cycle.
- Pretreat the stains
Inspect the article for any stains. Add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the stains and allow the liquid to soak into the stain for about 10 minutes. Use a clean paper towel to absorb the detergent and stain from the fabric before washing. Avoid rubbing the stain so you do not force it deeper into the fabric.
- Choose the right detergent
Do not use general-purpose liquid detergents that cause the fleece to lose its natural waterproof qualities. Choose a mild, powdered detergent designed for delicate laundry.
- Set the machine
Set the machine for a warm wash and rinse. Turn the dial to the gentle cycle.
- Load the machine
Do not wash fleece with other materials. For garments, turn the item wrong side out to protect the fleece. Do not use liquid or powdered bleach on fleece and avoid using fabric softeners. Start the machine.
- Dry the fleece
Line or machine dry fleece articles. If you choose to tumble dry fleece articles, set the dryer to the low heat setting. Remove the articles as soon as they are dry. Do not iron fleece as contact with an iron often leaves a permanent mark.
