A vertical air conditioner is an air conditioner that features components configured vertically and is designed for use in tall windows where a horizontal unit cannot fit. Vertical air conditioners are also used in windows that open from left to right, rather than up and down.
Vertical air conditioners are sometimes referred to as “casement” units. They are designed to cool small rooms, houses and apartments. Vertical air conditioners can sometimes also refer to freestanding industrial units that are typically used in office buildings. Industrial units are more compact and typically include removable panels to allow for easy servicing should the unit malfunction. Vertical industrial units typically fit through most doorways and are considered more portable than horizontal units.
