Utica Boilers produces many boiler models that are ENERGY STAR certified as energy efficient as well as some standard, less efficient, models. As of 2015, 14 of the company's oil and gas boilers have been certified with annual fuel utilization efficiency ratings between 87 and 95 percent.
To receive ENERGY STAR certification, boilers must receive an AFUE rating of at least 85 percent or be at least 6 percent more efficient than the minimum rating for standard boilers.
The ENERGY STAR program was created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy in 1992. Boilers have qualified for certification since 1996.
