Use a Bissell Pro Heat carpet shampooer by measuring the appropriate cleaning solution and placing it in the tank, filling the machine the rest of the way with hot tap water and turning it on to heat it up. After about two minutes, engage the handle to spray the cleaning solution on the carpet, and then make several passes with it disengaged to remove the dirty solution from the flooring.
Prior to using the machine, prepare the room by removing the furnishings. Vacuum the flooring thoroughly to remove as much dust and dirt as possible. Pretreat any pet stains using enzymatic stain removers, and treat food stains using oxygen bleach. Allow these stain removers to work at least 20 minutes before proceeding with carpet cleaning.
Bissell requires owners of their machines to use Bissell cleaning solutions to maintain their warranties, although other cleaning solutions are sometimes less expensive and just as effective. Once the warranty period ends, the consumer is no longer limited to Bissell products. White distilled vinegar is a good choice for lightly soiled carpets and an effective carpet deodorizer.
Monitor the machine to ensure it continues to apply solution while cleaning. The tank requires frequent refills, even when cleaning small rooms. Low-suds cleaners leave less residue to attract new dirt once the carpet dries.
