How Do You Get Urine Out of a Mattress?

To remove urine from a mattress, simply blot it up using a towel, then apply baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to eliminate the urine smell and stain, respectively. Two clean towels and an empty spray bottle are also needed. You need a day to complete this process.

  1. Blot up the urine

Blot up urine from the mattress using a clean towel. Apply pressure so that the towel absorbs as much urine as possible. Avoid rubbing to prevent urine from spreading to the unaffected sections of the mattress.

  2. Apply the baking soda and the hydrogen peroxide

Sprinkle the baking soda on the affected area. Baking soda absorbs urine and eliminates the urine smell. Pour the hydrogen peroxide into the spray bottle, and spray it on the mattress to remove the urine stain. Allow the peroxide to remain on the mattress for a few minutes, then blot up any moisture with a clean towel.

  3. Sprinkle more baking soda, and dry your mattress

Sprinkle the baking soda on the mattress for the second time, and leave it to dry. You can dry your mattress in the sun to eliminate the absorbed moisture effectively. Vacuum the baking soda once the mattress is dry. It is then ready for use.
