To unlock most ovens with a self-cleaning feature, including Jenn-Air models, wait until the internal temperature goes below 550 degrees Fahrenheit; this causes the automatic locking feature to deactivate. Usually, this takes about 45 minutes to an hour after the cleaning cycle is complete.
When the Jenn-Air indicates that the interior temperature is cool enough, the door lock lever will release. In some cases, it is possible to unlock the door before the lock indicator light appears between cycles. To do this, pull the lever and turn the cycle setting from clean to off. The cancel button is pushed twice, and then the oven door can be opened.
If the lock indicator light is already on, press the cancel button two times, which stops the cleaning cycle. However, opening the door still has to wait until the lock indicator light is not illuminated. The time this takes depends on how hot the oven is. The cleaning setting should be turned off after the oven door has been opened.
If the cleaning cycle is over, and the oven is cool, but it still doesn't open, it's possible that the lock system has failed. Turn off the breaker to the oven for about 10 minutes, and then try again. If it still doesn't open, a repair technician should be contacted.
