A GE Profile oven door may be unlocked by allowing the oven to cool to room temperature, starting a self-cleaning cycle or switching off the circuit breaker for several minutes. If the oven door still does not unlock, calling GE service personnel is necessary, says GE Appliances.
If the oven still has food inside, the oven door is unlocked only after the unit has cooled down to room temperature. If the door becomes locked during baking, the clear/off button must be pressed and the oven allowed to cool before unlocking the door, according to Modernmom.
When the oven does not contain food or shelves, a self-clean cycle is started. After 60 seconds, the clear/off button is pressed and the oven door unlocked. When this is not successful, a short self-cleaning cycle for 1 to 2 hours is commenced; the door is unlocked once the cleaning cycle is complete and the unit reaches room temperature.
Alternatively, the power cord of the oven may be disconnected for 30 seconds and then reconnected to unlatch the oven door. If this fails, the circuit breaker should be switched off for a few minutes and turned back on to release the locked oven door. When these steps fail to unlock the GE profile oven door, an appointment with the service personnel is often necessary.
