Electrolux manufacturers a number of appliances, including cooktops and ranges, refrigerators, washers, dryers and vacuum cleaners. It also manufactures a line of small appliances for the kitchen. It tends to offer higher-end products in those categories, according to Consumer Reports.
Electrolux acquired General Electric in September of 2014, and already owns Frigidaire. The acquisition catapults Electrolux past Whirlpool as the major appliance market leader in the United States, as of 2015. The company is headquartered in Sweden, and enjoys success in many markets. It sells more than 50 million products in 150 markets to consumers every year. The acquisition of GE affects the distribution channels in its U.S. markets, since the long-established General Electric has been in business in the United States since 1892.
The Electrolux company takes great pride in its recent work connecting with and garnering feedback from consumers to direct product development. In June of 2014, just prior to its acquisition of GE, the Chief Marketing Officer of Electrolux communicated what this experience has meant for the company in an article for Harvard Business Review. GE and Electrolux are consistently the highest-rated brands of products with Consumer Reports. The high end small appliances released by Electrolux focus on the consumer market and range from $199 - $499 for its choices of blenders and food processors.
