Kronheims Furniture sells a wide variety of different products, including recliners, desks, stationary sofas, entertainment centers and reclining furniture. The company also offers mattresses and bedding, home office furniture, coffee tables, dinettes and items from the Paula Deen Home Collection.
Kronheims sells furniture from a number of major brands, such as Stanley, Serta, Ashley, Broyhill and Lacy. The company has two different branches in the greater Cleveland, Ohio, area, in the towns of Mentor and Brooklyn, and is one of the area's leading furniture retailers.
The Kronheim Furniture Company was founded by Jacob Kronheim in 1918, according to the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History. Kronheim was an immigrant from Austria-Hungary who moved to the United States in 1902 and worked as a furniture upholsterer prior to opening his own upholstery shop. He then opened up a factory and his first retail store shortly after World War I. By 1934, Kronheim owned two factories and two retail outlets in Cleveland. He then sold the company to a group of investors in the 1940s, who sold it to another group in 1963.
Kronheims continued to expand until the 1980s, when the company began closing some of its retail stores in the city due to declining population levels. In 1997, the company closed its final store within the city limits of Cleveland.
