Leaf rakes with cushioned handles and a 30- to 36-inch fan work best for most areas. Rakes with super-wide fans are available as well, and can spread up to 48 inches. However, these rakes are difficult to use between shrubs and flower beds. Polypropylene tarps are handy for transporting large amounts of leaves and allow for easy dumping.
