Square D offers 11 different categories of electrical circuit breakers and related products through Schneider Electric, including miniature, molded-case, mission-critical, universal-power, direct-current rated, thermal magnetic and medium-voltage circuit breakers. The company also makes enclosures, ground-fault protection products, motor-circuit protectors and supplementary protectors.
Miniature circuit breakers offer just one or two switches and carry loads up to 30 amps. Molded-case products allow electricians to open a circuit manually or automatically under overload conditions. Mission-critical circuit breakers are ideal for 200 to 400 amps of electricity. Universal-power products are for industrial-sized loads that carry up to 6,300 total amps through one unit.
DC-rated circuit breakers provide protection for direct- and alternating-current systems. Thermal-magnetic models work with uninterruptible power supplies that rely on batteries to protect them from power failures or tripped circuits.
Circuit protectors, supplementary protectors and enclosures cover the outsides of units to ensure safety and protect circuitry from damage. Ground-fault protection includes sensors that open a circuit when a ground fault is detected in an electrical system.
