What Is a Tumble Dryer?

A tumble dryer, also referred to as a clothes dryer, is a machine that uses a rotating drum made of metal to dry clothing using heat and air movement. The interior of the drum is also designed to have low humidity to maximize drying potential.

The metal drum used in a tumble dryer is fitted with paddles around the inside rim. Depending on the size of the machine, the drum can rotate in one direction or two directions during a cleaning cycle. Cold air is then taken into the machine through an intake mechanism, which is then heated using a heating element inside.
