How Do You Troubleshoot Frigidaire Dishwashers?

Frigidaire dishwashers occasionally malfunction. If your Frigidaire dishwasher isn't working properly, try some troubleshooting tips before you call a technician.

  1. Make sure the dishwasher is receiving power

If the dishwasher doesn't turn on, make sure that you have turned on the Frigidaire dishwasher correctly. Verify that you have not mistakenly pressed the wrong button. Press "Start." Hold down the button for three seconds, and press it a second time. Check the plug, the outlet and the cord to make sure they are functioning properly. Check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker, and restore the circuit if necessary.

  2. Make sure the door is latched

If the dishwasher continues not to operate, check to be sure that the latch is properly engaged. The dishwasher will not operate if the door is not tightly closed. Clean, tighten or replace the latch if it's faulty.

  3. Make sure the dishwasher's settings are correct

Verify that the dishwasher's water temperature is high enough. Check the hot water in the kitchen sink to see if you are able to draw hot water; if so, the problem is with the dishwasher and not with your water heater. Confirm that other settings are correct on the control panel. Press buttons firmly to make sure your settings are received by the electronics.

  4. Look for a build-up of solid materials

Check for detergent and water minerals, as they can prevent water and soap from being distributed equally and cause poor washing results. Build-up of detergent and other materials in the soap dispenser can prevent it from functioning properly.
