Travis Industries is a privately owned wood, gas and pellet company in the United States. The company is popular for various high-quality brands, including Tempest Torch, Lopi, Avalon and Fireplace Xtrordinair.
Travis Industries brands are only available in a network of authorized dealers operating in the United States, Australia, Canada and China. The history of Travis brands started in 1977 when Kurt Rumens, a rock musician, began selling stoves to supplement his income. In 1979, he created the Lopi brand, which became the first U.S. hearth products manufacturer to develop an Environmental Protection Agency-certified wood stove in 1984. The brand offers a broad selection of steel and cast iron models of gas, wood and electric stoves, fireplaces, and fireplace inserts.
In 1985, Travis developed the Avalon brand, which quickly emerged as a leading line of wood stoves. The brand has a complete lineup of burning models and fireplace accessories. Fireplace Xtrordinair and Tempest Torch started in 1992 and 2007 respectively. Tempest Torch features indoor and outdoor lighting products including unique torch designs that feature a spinning, spiral-like flame. Other less common Travis Industries brands include Maverick firepits and DaVinci custom fireplaces. Travis Industries products originate from the House of Fire, an 11-acre facility that employs thousands of people each day.
