The Toro Company makes Toro lawn mowers. Founded on July 10, 1914, the Toro Company started out building engines for the Bull Tractor Company which was based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When Bull's sales dropped in 1916, Toro quickly adapted by building engines for both the farming and trucking industries.
Toro also helped in the war effort by manufacturing steam steering winches for the merchant marines in 1919. The first complete machine, a golf course turf roller, was manufactured in 1918. In 1924, the precursor to the modern day push mower was built and named the Toro 30" Park Special and was manufactured for three decades.
