Heaters that primarily use infrared radiation to provide heat can be more efficient than other types of heaters for heating specific areas and small spaces. However, these heaters are often less efficient for heating large rooms or several people in the same room.
Heaters that use infrared radiation heat by emitting infrared radiation that is directly absorbed by objects or people in the path of the beam, rather than heating air and circulating it around an area. This allows infrared heaters to quickly warm specific areas in a shorter period of time. However, infrared heaters cannot spread warmth to places out of the path of the infrared beam. These heaters consume more energy than convection heaters when owners try to use them to heat a large area.
