What Is a Toaster Oven?

A toaster oven is a small countertop appliance that can do the same work as a regular oven but is only a fraction of the size. Toaster ovens are frequently used to make toast and toasted sandwiches, to reheat leftovers and to bake small frozen meals.

Theoretically, a person can cook anything in a toaster oven that cooks in a standard oven, provided it fits. Toaster ovens have the capacity to broil and bake, and unlike microwaves, they brown foods. Some toaster ovens have convection capability, meaning that a fan circulates the heat evenly throughout the oven, allowing the food to cook faster. These appliances are handy for those who live alone, since they cook single servings easily.
