When painting tiles, use the right type of paint, and be sure the tiles are clean and sanded prior to painting. This ensures a smooth surface that allows the paint to adhere to the tile more easily.
After the tiles have been fully prepared, choose the type of paint. For tiles, only use tile paint, which comes as a spray paint, a two-part paint that is mixed manually, or a two-process paint. The two-process paint involves painting a bonding agent on the tile before the finish coat. With the two-part paint, two paints are mixed together and either sprayed or painted on the tiles.
When cleaning the tile, use extra care with tiles that might have fungus, such as in the bathroom. Kitchen tiles also prove to be more labor-intensive since grease splatters need to be cleaned.
