How Do You Thaw a Frozen Water Line on an Ice Maker?
To thaw a frozen water line on an ice maker, unplug the refrigerator, and heat the water line with a hairdryer until it begins to drip. When it stops dripping, plug in the refrigerator, and replace the ice bin. This procedure takes several hours and requires one or more towels along with the hairdryer.

Expose the water line
Turn off the ice maker, unplug the refrigerator, remove the ice bin and dump it out. If the water line is held in place with a retaining clip, remove it. Fold a thick towel in half and place it beneath the exposed water line.

Heat the line
Heat the water line with an electric hair dryer on the lowest setting. Move the dryer constantly along the length of the line to avoid damaging the plastic. When the line begins to drip, turn off the dryer.

Wait for the dripping to stop
Wait until the water line stops dripping. If the towel becomes saturated, replace it or cover it with a new one.

Reinsert the ice bin
If you removed the water line’s retaining clip, reattach it. Reinsert the empty ice bin, plug in the refrigerator, and turn on the ice maker. Increase the thermostat temperature slightly to avoid refreezing the water line.
