Coldspot is a private-label brand of refrigerators, air conditioners and freezers that were sold by Sears stores from 1928 to 1976. The brand is still available at Sears, but is now known as Kenmore. Original Coldspot refrigerators are often sold by private sellers on sites like eBay and Craigslist.
Sears designed the first Coldspot to provide consumers with an affordable and reliable electric refrigerator. The brand was responsible for many refrigerator firsts, including the first frostless model, humidity-controlled produce drawers and built-in water dispensers. In 1977, Sears decided to replace the Coldspot brand name with the Kenmore name, another private-label appliance brand owned by Sears.
