Many appliance retailers offer free delivery and installation with a dishwasher purchase, and some also haul away the old one for free. As of 2015, Best Buy offers free delivery and installation of dishwashers over $399, and Home Depot offers free delivery but charges hookup fees for new dishwasher purchasers.

Prior to delivery, many retailers expect the kitchen to be prepared for the new dishwasher. They mandate a minimum opening in place in the cabinetry for the new dishwasher, an available water supply line shutoff and electrical outlet within 6 feet, and a dishwasher connection kit. If the new dishwasher is a replacement, it’s necessary to empty and unplug the old one before the service crew arrives.
