Star delta wiring diagrams use two configurations: the star configuration, which resembles a tripod, and the delta configuration, which resembles a triangle. The star delta diagram displays the required six cables from the control and the six terminals at the motor.
The operator must consult the motor's name plate to find the winding numbering progression, as manufacturers wind their motors differently. Star delta diagrams help the operator locate the positions of the three contactors and the starting position. The diagram wire colors include the red phase for U1 and W2, yellow phase for U2 and V1, and blue phase for V2 and W1. To work properly, the motor wiring must follow the phase color codes.
