The standard outdoor kitchen counter height is 36 inches. In certain cases, the counter must be 38 inches high to fit a refrigerator. Each amenity, such a grill, side burner, sink and refrigerator, should be separated by at least 16 inches of counter top.
Counters, along with storage areas, are considered part of the "dry zone" of outdoor kitchens. These set-ups also typically have "hot zones," with grills, burners or ovens. More extensive kitchens have "cold zones" with refrigerators, coolers or freezers, and "wet zones" with sinks.
Other outdoor kitchen surfaces have standard heights. For instance, a bar typically stands 42 to 46 inches tall and has 3 to 4 feet of counter top. Bar stools run about 28 inches high. Table height is usually 30 inches.
