Firewood is usually stacked between holders. Specially made fire wood racks are used by some individuals. The pattern of stacking is largely up to the person stacking. Many people choose a level spot and put one layer of logs on top of sticks that allow for air flow.
The next layer of wood is placed on top of the last with careful attention being paid to make sure each piece fits into the other in a stable manner. Another method for stacking wood involves placing one layer of wood horizontally and the other vertically in order to keep air flow better for drying purposes.
