Glue boards and other sticky traps are effective methods for killing spiders in the home. Because most spiders do not pick up pesticides unless they are sprayed directly, using a combination of methods to kill them is the best strategy.
Place glue traps in areas where cracks and crevices are present, such as along baseboards, to begin catching spiders. Put sticky boards under furnishings, in cupboards and in other dark, cool places to capture spiders.
Brown recluse spiders prefer to stay hidden, so they require sticky traps in areas that are typically undisturbed, such as the attic and in crawlspaces, to eliminate an infestation. If black widow and brown recluse spiders are present, it may be necessary to combine the use of sticky traps with traditional pesticide sprays to reduce the spider population in the home quickly.
