To remove bad odors from sandals, use baking soda sprinkled on the soles, put pantyhose filled with cat litter into the sandals to absorb even more odor, and spray the sandals with shoe deodorizing spray after wearing them. Leave them outside to dry when they are damp.
- Use baking soda
Sprinkle fresh baking soda over the soles of the sandals, and leave it there overnight. After the baking soda has remained in place for several hours, shake it out of the sandals. Rub any remaining baking soda out of the sandals with a clean cloth.
- Place kitty litter inside the sandals
Fill small bags made from old pantyhose legs with clean kitty litter. Put the bags in the sandals, and leave them overnight. Remove the kitty litter bags the next morning.
- Spray the sandals with deodorizer
Select an effective shoe deodorizing spray, and spray the sandals with it every time you wear them.
- Dry the sandals thoroughly
Whenever the sandals are damp, either from wear or from wet weather, dry them thoroughly outside in a warm area out of direct sunlight. Dry completely before wearing the sandals again.
- Repeat regularly
Repeat the deodorizing steps with baking soda and kitty litter regularly, if not every time you wear the sandals.
