According to Microbe World, slime molds live in areas with food, moisture and natural light. However, they are mostly found in forests. Slime molds live as single organisms or in large communities of multiple organisms.
Slime molds thrive on decaying vegetation, bacteria, fungi and other slime molds. They are living, breathing organisms that have fungal and animal-like traits. A slime mold pack resembles a slug by binding together and sliding across surfaces. Most of the time, slime molds live independently, but they form into a communal structure during food shortages. As packs, they could appear as red, white, yellow, blue, brown, black or bright orange.
