New customers can sign up for Stream Energy by choosing the Become a Customer option on MyStream.com. As of 2015, only residents of certain states, including Texas, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Georgia, can sign up with Stream Energy. Customers must choose their area of residence prior to signing up, and they have the option to choose between enrolling immediately with the company or to view existing rates for electric and gas in the state.
Stream Energy's services include options for both residential and business locations, including the provision of energy through gas, electricity, clean energy or free energy. Established in 2004, the company began operations in 2005, following Texas' decision to deregulate its electricity market. Stream Energy's marketing system relies on word of mouth and a network of independent energy distributors recruited by its marketing division, Ignite.
In addition to its energy services, Stream Energy also provides mobile services, credit-monitoring services, tech support services and identity protection. Customers can bundle the company's security-related services for a cheaper subscription price, and they are free for the first month of membership. Stream Energy's mobile services include a variety of individual plans and shared plans on either a GSM 4G LTE network or a CDMA 4G LTE network.
