The items needed to clean a Keurig coffee maker depend on the part of the brewer being cleaned. One common maintenance task, recommended by Keurig to ensure optimal performance, is cleaning the water reservoir using a soft cloth, an empty sink and a clean mug.
There are two main components of the water reservoir: the reservoir port and the filter screen. To clean the port, remove the reservoir and wipe the port with a dry, soft cloth. To clean the filter screen, place the reservoir in an empty sink, and aim the faucet stream at the mesh screen. Then fill the reservoir, and shake it vigorously for approximately five seconds. Empty the reservoir, and turn it over to locate the external port. Place the port under the faucet stream, and gently rub the port with your finger. Finally, using the clean mug, run a hot-water-only cycle.
