  1. Gather all needed documents

    For residential customers, PG&E wants information about the service location, including the address and your relationship to the address, i.e., if you lease or own the property. Have a pen and paper ready to write down where to send any documents they ask for. You must also provide some sort of information for a credit check and/or pay a deposit, so have your Social Security number ready. Business customers must also provide the Federal Tax ID, if available, and the location of the meter for the business.
