Traditional Korean cooking pots, also know as Dolsot stone bowls, can be purchased from Asian groceries and through specialty houseware shops and online retailers. As of spring 2015, Amazon.com lists more than a dozen Dolsot bowls ranging from 5 to 30 inches.
Asian groceries providing Korean products to a global audience include Crazy Korean Shopping and H Mart, now located in 11 states. Authentic Korean stone cookware can also be found at the websites of specialty shops such as Spiceberry Home.
Dolsot means “stone pot.” The cookware is fired from clay, remaining porous for cooking after initial oiling. The vessels can be used in the oven, on the stove top and in the microwave. Accessories for purchase include lids and wooden, plastic or stone trivets and trays.
Dolsot is known for cooking foods efficiently while retaining the nutritional value of the ingredients. Specialties served in the bowls include the signature Korean rice dish bibimbap, soups and stews.
