Eliminate sugar ants from the home using bait made of mint jelly and boric acid. Mixing and applying the bait takes requires a few minutes. Within days, you can eliminate the ant problem.
- Mix the bait
Purchase boric acid powder at a hardware store or pharmacy. Purchase mint jelly at a grocery store. Mix 2 tablespoons of boric acid powder into an 8-ounce container of mint jelly. Transfer the bait to a condiment squeeze bottle for easy application. Label the bottle, and store it out of the reach of children and pets.
- Apply the bait
Cut a 3-inch strip of masking tape, and apply it to a counter top near the ants. Use the squeeze bottle to apply a 2-inch line of bait to the tape. Discard the tape and any jelly residue after 24 hours. Replace the tape and bait daily until you no longer see ants.
- Make the kitchen less attractive to ants
Keep ants away out of the kitchen by cleaning any spills as soon as they occur. Keep sugar and sweets in sealed containers so they no longer attract ants. Repeat application of the mint jelly and boric acid bait if ants reappear in the home.
