Because of their ability to produce a musky odor when threatened, it may be necessary to drive skunks away without interacting with them directly. There are numerous methods to try to rid your yard of skunks. You can make the area uninhabitable for them, remove their food sources, interfere with their den or use a specific repellent, for example./
Remove any piles of rocks, wood or other material that could be used to make a den. Block any openings under the house, shed or porch.
Secure any outdoor garbage areas. Feed pets indoors, or remove pets' food immediately after feeding them. Keep the lawn as dry as possible to discourage grubs from coming to the surface.
Look for a hole or crawlspace that could potentially be a skunk den. Place leaves or branches over the hole to monitor any in or out activity. If the obstacles have been moved, you can assume it is the den.
Leave lights or noisemakers near the hole to drive the skunk away. Pack straw, leaves or any other material into the hole to make it difficult to enter and exit.
Apply a repellent product near the den to encourage the skunks to abandon it. There are commercial products available that contain urine from predatory animals that can drive skunks away. Used kitty litter and products such as hot sauce or chili powder that contain capsaicin can also be used.
