When roaches invade a house, it's important to get rid of them as quickly as possible. These dirty insects damage books and wallpaper, snack on your food and spread germs to humans.
Use packaged roach baits
Put out a few sticky traps in various locations where roaches live in higher concentrations. Check all around your house for holes and cracks. Look for roaches around drains or vents.
Use homemade roach baits
Mix one part granulated white sugar, one part white flour and one part powdered boric acid. The flour and sugar attract the roaches, while the boric acid kills them. Sprinkle the powder under the stove, under the refrigerator, and in the back of cabinets and drawers.
Use an insecticide spray
Look for insecticide that is formulated for use against roaches. Spray wherever roaches enter the house or where they hide, including along walls, in vents and in cracks.
Apply a liquid concentrate roach killer
Dilute a liquid concentrate roach killer with water according to the manufacturer's directions. Spray, wipe, or mop the liquid concentrate onto any surface, crevice or crack to kill roaches that invade there.
Clean your house thoroughly
Keep roaches away by keeping your house clean. Wash your dishes, and clean up spills and crumbs right away.
